Bilston Steelworks Open Hearth furnace in the Black Country West Midlands in the 1978.Pouring steel sample into container.
The container was sent directly to the chemical Laboratory using a high Power tube transfer system. The analysis of the sample could be carried out in a matter of minutes, to see if the steel was at the required composition. When the correct composition was attained the furnace was ready for tapping.
