My father Leonard Kinsey furnace dismantler and bricklayer (1973-79). The life span of an open hearth furnace was aprox.18 week. after the furnace was taken off production and the entire brickwork replaced. Bilston Steelworks Open Heart furnace in The Black Country West Midlands in the 1978 . It closed down in 1979
